Prayer Ministries

Daughter's of the King

Daughters of the King is a religious order for women. Each Daughter takes a lifetime vow to live by the Rule of the Order, which includes prayer, service, and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's kingdom. At St. Luke's, the Ruth Chapter meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Monday mornings for prayer and fellowship. We pray for our clergy, members of the parish, and other concerns that are brought to us. We also perform service for the parish at the direction of the clergy. Any women interested in the Daughters of the King can contact Annette Lynch at 493-5148 or by email. Anyone who has a prayer request for us can also contact Annette or place a request in the blue box on the St. Luke's Central table. Our prayer list is confidential.

Koinonia

Koinonia is a ministry which provides Christian fellowship and a chance to share our lives. Eight to twelve member groups meet weekly for about one-and-a-half hours for fellowship, discussion and prayer. If you are interested in participating in this group, please contact Ken and Karen Deines at 377-3266 or by email.

Centering Prayer

Centering Prayer is a method designed to facilitate the development of contemplative prayer by preparing our faculties to cooperate with this gift. It is an attempt to present the teaching of earlier time (e.g. The Cloud of Unknowing) in an updated form and to put a certain order and regularity into it. It is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer, it simply puts other kinds of prayer into a new and fuller perspective. During the time of prayer we consent to God's presence and action within. At other times our attention moves outward to discover God's presence everywhere.

We meet in the chapel every Thursday morning at 10 am for Centering Prayer until about 10:30, then we usually adjourn to the library for Lectio Divina. Our time together usually ends between 11:30 and 11:45. For further information please contact Pat Carter, Judy Crosby or Barbara Phillips.
